What a ripoff.

I just went to Panera for lunch. I had a bowl of french onion soup and a lemonade. The grand total came to $7. For soup and lemonade. That kind of makes me sick. I mean, why does any restaurant that is able to promote their food as being halfway healthy get to charge up the ass for it? I don't think I could possibly order $7 worth of McDonald's food for myself and eat it in one sitting. If I went to Portillo's, I could get a beef and cheddar croissant with french fries and a coke for around $7, and I wouldn't be able to finish it. And I can think of a bunch of other crappy food that would be cheap and abundant too. But $7 for soup and lemonade (which barely made me full and, by the way, probably wasn't especially healthy either)?!? What is this world coming to? No wonder so many people are so fat. It's just easier and cheaper that way.

Thanks for your thoughts. I guess the only good thing about eating healthy despite it being more expensive and less satisfying than McDonald's is that you can live longer. That's supposed to be better. The Chinese really value living long, you know. So did the Vulcans from Star Trek--remember "Live long and prosper"? You can't pull the wool over my eyes. I'm like a tack--look out, or I'll prick your finger. Like a razor. Or an antelope. (I know my job should be to make funny quips. But I can't really do that because I'm not funny. All I think of is really inappropriate stuff. Nobody wants to hear that. So I sit and am stuck in this blogspace with nothing to say.) Thanks again for your thoughts.

Just wanted you to know that your post made me decide to get a beef and cheddar croissant when I was at Portillos today with my Dad. :) Yum.

However, I did go for a walk on the path around our building afterwards. Damn conscience.
